Water sports in Goa: what to try and what to skip
Parasailing, jet skis, banana boats and scuba are not the same kind of day out. What each one is actually like before you commit.
Every North Goa beach has someone selling a combo ticket for four activities. Some of them are worth your morning and some are ninety seconds of noise. Here is the honest split.
Parasailing — short, and the one people remember
You are in the air for a few minutes behind a boat, high enough to see the coastline properly. It needs no skill and almost no fitness, and it is the easiest thing on this list to say yes to. Manage the expectation on length: the view is the product, not the duration.
Parasailing at CalanguteJet ski — fun, and where most of the disputes happen
Genuinely enjoyable, and the activity where booking ahead through a listed operator matters most. Beach-side deals are where people get surprised — by the length of the ride, by who is actually driving, and by damage claims afterwards. Agree what you are getting before you are standing in the surf.
Jet Ski Ride at Baga BeachScuba at Grande Island — the one worth a whole day
This is a boat trip, not a beach activity: you are out for most of the day, and the dive itself is a small part of it. Visibility varies a lot with the season and the weather. If you only do one thing in the water on your trip, make it this, and go in the dry months.
Scuba Diving at Grande IslandA full day out, boat included.Banana boat and the rest of the combo
Fine with a group and forgettable alone. If a combo ticket is cheap and you have the time, it fills an hour. It is not the reason to build a morning around the beach.
Goa Adventure Week — 7 nightsIf the water is the whole reason you are coming.
